After many years of debilitating pelvic pain from endometriosis and adenomyosis and not feeling like I was ‘getting anywhere’ with other specialists, I asked my GP for a referral to Mr Pickersgill after a recommendation from a friend. Although it was over a 250 mile round trip each time for me to see him for appointments and surgeries, it was worth travelling every mile for his expertise and kind manner. I had 3 surgeries with him and completely trust him. I always felt listened to and believed about the amount of pain I’ve had and how much it can effect quality of life (this was often not the case before finding Mr Pickersgill). I never felt rushed at appointments and he thoroughly explained his recommended treatment plan to manage my pain and symptoms and made sure we were both happy with the plan. I 100% recommend Mr Pickersgill and if I have gynaecological problems in the future he would be my first choice of consultant to see.

I cannot rate Andy high enough. You actually feel respected and listened to - which is rare to find in the medical field - especially when it comes to gynaecological health! I recently had a hysterectomy because of endometriosis. Andy gave me various options, he explained everything thoroughly, and was just generally great to deal with. Although I hope I never have to see him again (because that means the pain has come back!), I really wish he could be my overall doctor haha. My recovery from my operation has been so great - I know that’s not always down to the surgeon, but I feel his care and expertise helped massively with that.

I arranged a consultation after ending up in A&E with abdominal pain in May 2021 and initial investigations pointing to an ovarian cyst. My initial consultation was thorough, professional and I was asked lots of questions to establish my medical history and current symptoms. After an MRI confirmed the cyst, we agreed on a period of 'watchful waiting'; a subsequent ultrasound confirmed the cyst was still present and at my third consultation we discussed surgery options in more detail. At each step I felt all the options were clearly explained and the decision was always mine. He was professional, but also personable and amusing. He established rapport and trust from the beginning - even more impressive given we had all our consultations via phone. On the day of the surgery to remove the ovary and cyst he explained the procedure again and I felt reassured and safe in his care. This was particularly important to me as this was the first time I had ever had surgery. My recovery has been swift and and as described and a month later I am feeling great and looking forward to a pain-free 2022. Thank you.

Dr Pickersgill has actually been a life saviour to me. I suffered from fibroids where my NHS consultant told me the only way to be pain free and rid myself of this pesky thing was to have a hysterectomy. Five years I fought with the NHS, had numerous blood transfusions, was told that I would 90% not be having children, get on with it as it's life. I met Mr Pickersgill and walked out the room sobbing with happy tears. He was such a gentleman, he listened, he put my mind at ease and put an action plan together, there and then, there was a way out of this and we could try for children and hopefully conceive naturally and if we faced any issues moving forward he would over see this too. I went from thinking my only option was a hysterectomy in my 20's, to having laparoscopic myomectomy surgery, that ran smoothly and everything was left in tact. Not only this, I am 6 months down the line and 10 weeks pregnant, having conceived naturally!! I cannot thank Andrew enough for everything he has done for me. I will forever be grateful and thankful for allowing me to have something I never thought I would.

Mr Pickersgill is so wonderful there aren’t the words to describe his professionalism, surgical skill, kindness or care. Over five years he has performed surgeries to enable me to have children, seen me through several miscarriages and a C section. He has referred me to the right people for future specialist care when needed and gone above and beyond when I needed his help. I have never met a better consultant or a more caring man. The NHS is a better place for his care. Cannot rate him highly enough.
